Will creating a home directory and setting up ssh authentication for jira service user will affect

Sheeraz Ali April 3, 2018

Hi

I want to setup the ssh authentication for jira service user (user internally created by jira when installed to run jira service) will it affect the jira software running instance in any means. (SSH setup will require to create a home directory for that user and also .ssh directory inside home directory).

regards,
Sheeraz

Hi,

if you used the installer you should already have an homedirectory for your jira runtime user and creating an .ssh directory should not cause any issues.

Can you check what the passwd entry for your jira runtime user shows for the home directory?

Hi ,

Thanks for the quick reply, but the installer we had used was JIRA 7.2.6 and it didn't create any home directory it only created the service user.

while the entry point does mention the home directory /home/jira

jira:x:1004:1004:Atlassian JIRA:/home/jira:/bin/sh

but it is not created there.
