Why don't stories show up in backlog?

Hi,
I've just started to test Jira Agile and created a brand new board.
After first creating 5 epics and a version, I then wanted to add stories to the first Epic.
Using the create issue at the bottom of the groupbox belonging to the epic I created the story sucsessfully. When saving it warned me however that the issue wouldn't be visible.
Why not? I'm working with the Epic, so it is selected. Shouldn't it just appear in the backlog?
I've also made sure that the right Version is linked and selected.
Even if I try to see all issues without any filtering in the planning view, nothing shows up.

I didn't have any filters except those created during the setup of the project.
I decided to delete the project and start from scratch again. Now everything works as expected.
Both times I used the same approach to use the Agile Board wizard to create both project and board. However second time I started with creating a story and only then created an epic to which I assigned the issue by using drag&drop.
When I created the next issue from the Epic everything worked as expected.

May I know does the stories issue matches with your board's Saved Filter ?
