What is this section called?

William Ruiz January 6, 2022

This hamburger menu on the left has a drop down list of what seems to be "profile" under Jira Software.
But are these 'user profiles'?

Hi @William Ruiz

These are Jira Sites you have access to, by navigating to each of these options, you will land into each Jira Site.

Thanks,
Pramodh

thank you @Pramodh M  @Utkarsh Agarwal _Nagarro_

Under the App switcher for the different Jira sites,
Does that mean the the "site-test-wr" is one site?

If so, what falls within a 'site'

-trying to understand the hierarchy here.

Yes you are correct @William Ruiz

Under a site, resides Atlassian Products (Jira Software, Confluence, JSM, etc.)

Each site has a Domain with your-site.atlassian.net URL

Awesome. @Pramodh M

Final question:  what would be a reason to have multiple sites?

Can 1 site communicate or link software/projects/boards to another?

@William Ruiz

Having multiple-instances or sites depends on the complexity and need. For example,

  1. The Jira development team has their own customized instance.
  2. The finance and security teams have their own instances to keep sensitive data separate.
  3. The support team has a highly-customized instance to keep up with and track incoming support tickets.

Also, Sites can be integrated with each other to establish links between jira issues across sites.

Hi @William Ruiz

When using Atlassian Cloud products, the “Switch to” option will display all products that the user has access to with that very same account, so it’s possible to easily switch between different Cloud products. So from the screenshot it seems like the user has access to "site-test-wr" and "williamruiz" Jira software cloud site. Hope this helps.
