Valid Agile license but Agile currently unavailable - how can we get it going again?

We have a staging system with JIRA 6.3.1 (server) and Agile 6.3.13. Lately we pointed it to another database but JIRA or Agile itself have not been updated. Now, JIRA displays the message 'JIRA Agile is currently unavailable. This might be because an upgrade task has failed to run or has not not yet completed.'

  • Agile administration shows 'Your license is currently valid. To access or update it please go to the UPM.'
  • UPM shows 'Renew' and 'This add-on has an available update but your current license does not support it. Renew your license to proceed.'
  • Well, we did not renew our Agile maintenance, so we cannot access the new version. Fine for us.

I think when the Agile license is valid, it should work.

We would appreciate ideas how we can get Agile going again.

Hello Evelin,

Besides the error message JIRA Agile is currently unavailable, can you check what error appear in the log files when you try to enable JIRA Agile ?

If you don't get too much tips about that, you can try to uninstall and install this add-on again.

There was an old bug with JIRA Agile, back when it was known as GreenHopper where the Agile tab would be inaccessible when the license maintenance expired....which is wrong b/c they are perpetual licenses. 

Anyway, probably not what's going wrong for you, but just in case (since the fix is easy) go into the addon, click the option to update the license and then delete the contents of the license field and click 'save' (yes, you are saving an empty license code - might want to copy it first).

Then just click update on the license again and enter your valid (but with maintenance expired) Agile license.

If it works it should work immediately. 


Like I said though, that was the fix for an old bug that gave a different error message. So it probably won't help you. Thought I'd share just the same.
