Using Epic link as criteria in searches does not work

I am a bit baffled. Have set-up where Epics are in one project and the stories are in another

Trying to get query to work:

Here, I have an issue, which clearly has an epic link in place

Epic link is there.JPG

But when I try to search any of the issues with Epic links, it fails

Nothing found.JPG

What could cause this?

can you remove all other criteria and simply search for

epic link" in (xxxxx)

Ok, it worked. Thank you. But just for sake of understanding; what if I want to find all issues from one project which are associated to that particular epic?

project = abc AND "epic link" in (xxxxx)
