Use custom fields instead of sprint & fix for version

Befor upgrading JIRA and installing GreenHopper, custom fields were used to mark a sprint where issue has been implemented/fixed, and to mark a sprint in which issue has been deployed/delivered to a specific environment. Is it possible to continue using same custom fields as if they are GreenHopper's sprint and JIRA's fix for version?
