Unsaved changes - why won't it disappear?

Kerrie May 25, 2021

I regularly encounter an intermittent error where, after saving ACs or Description in a Jira story, the unsaved changes warning persists

I have recorded a video showing the issue but don't seem to be able to add it here

The steps are:

Edit ACs or Description in a Jira story

Click Save

However the unsaved warnings message persists

I can confirm if I navigate away and return, the changes have indeed been saved even though the unsaved changes warning is still present

Has anyone else encountered this issue and if so have you managed to resolve it?

We have now found the cause of the issue and it is due to trailing white space. If you leave a space or carriage return after the final word, and save, the unsaved changes message persists

This has now been logged as a bug: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-76959

Please add your vote to the bug so that Atlassian can monitor impact and get it fixed asap.

Hi @Kerrie

There have been a few posts on this symptom for the description and comment fields.  Here is the open defect on the comments field one, if you want to watch it for progress:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-72289

One of the suggested work-arounds is to make a small change to the field and then try to save the changes.

Best regards,

Bill

@Bill Sheboy Thank you for the link. I have seen that one and the symptoms/issue is completely different.

I have already tried editing and resaving (not that I should have to) and that makes no difference. It again does actually save but the unsaved changes warning persists. I was hoping to find people that have encountered this exact same issue or know if it has been reported/is being worked on.

Thanks, Kerrie.  As there could be something up with your specific Jira instance, you may want to chat with your site admin about submitting a support ticket to Atlassian.  You appear to be on a standard (paid) version so your admin can log the ticket here:

After you hear back from support, please post what you learn to help the rest of the community.  Thanks!
