Unable to edit issue fields in details panel.

Sergey Voronkov August 10, 2017

Initially, it was possible to modify issue fields directly in the details pane. But a few days ago something happens and now details panel looks like a read-only view.

Where can I find reasons of this problem? Any logs or somethings else?2017-08-10_130546.png

Done/Resolved issues are generally not editable until or unless you explicitly make them editable.

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/allow-editing-of-closed-issues-138704.html

ALso certain fields like created, resolved, updated are auto populated and can't be edited.

Thanks for quick reply!

But this problem is actual for any issues. Not only for Done/Resolved. For all project in our company.

I just came across the same problem when attempting to add a custom field 4 years after this post. It's still not intuitive.

For anyone experiencing the same issue, you add the field to the screen as normal while creating the custom field. However, you then need to take a second step of adding the screen to the issue.

'Settings' > 'Fields' > 'Custom Fields' > 'Actions' > 'Screens'

Once the field is associated with the screen, you'll have the ability to diretly modify the field in the details pane.

Please check your Permissions set for your project like

Edit Issues
Ability to edit issues.

Assign Issues
Ability to assign issues to other people.

Modify Reporter
Ability to modify the reporter when creating or editing an issue.

If you set required permission for a specific Role/User needs edit permission will resolve your current issue
