Tracking questions/clarifications for an Agile Story

corth December 28, 2011

Any advice that can be offered on how to best use Jira to track open questions/discussions/clarifications around product stories that are logged in Jira? I have heard everything from tracking them in comments attached to a story to tracking them as tasks. Is there a best practice here?

If the questions/discussions/clarifications are against stories which are up towards the top of the backlog, then it is important these issues get resolved quickly, otherwise the stories wil be held up.

A couple of suggestions for you:

  1. Create a new JIRA issue type, e.g. Decisions, and save a search against all these types which can be accessed from the dashboard and/or issues menu
  2. Watch any issues in your Feature Backlog (not yet assigned to a Sprint) which have open questions/discussions/clarifications and save a search against all your watched issues
  3. Label any such issues and save a search for this label.
