Tempo Time Tracker - How can we prevent the user from adding/logging the time?

How can we prevent the user from adding/logging the time manually? I feel as if the time tracker is against the purpose due to fact it does not really track the time as if they are physically in the office under the proper supervision, meaning how would I know if the logged hours are legit/genuine? how would I know they are not just starting the time tracker without actually working?

We really need some sort of guidance, we literally tried many Softwares and non fulfilled our needs.

I'm quite sure there is no software that can fullfill your needs.

If the resources are logging their time by themselves they can set whathever they want regardless of the tools, from Excell up.

Tempo helps you visualize the tasks and the estimated time but it's up to the resources to be honest.

I fell that if your main concern is about "track the time as if they are physically in the office under the proper supervision", smart working I guess, you should focus more on tracking your teams deadlines and deliverables progress instead of logged time.

In this new smart working era (no badges, no cameras, no fixed break time, etc.) we need to look beyond the time tracked.

Probably not the answer you want to hear, but there will always be ways to "cheat the system".

Tempo has been a great time tracking tool for us, it greatly reduced the complexity to get time registered in the proper manner.

All the ways I've sen in Tempo to register time can be "cheated". The time tracker is (as I see it) a tool to help you know how much time you spend on something, those times where it's easy to forget about the time where you started.

There are lots of articles around here on the community on how to handle a distributed team (which it sounds like with your comment about "as if they are physically in the office". Another great source is the team playbook
