Hello
I wanted to understand the core difference between a team based and a company based project in JIRA.
Also I see that Team based project is not supported in Advanced Roadmap, but I am able to integrate or bring it in through a filter.
Its confusing because I am thinking of recommending a migration of the team based to company based projects.
Hello @Angana Patel
Team Managed projects are intended to be used as stand alone projects. The customizations in each project are independent and cannot be shared with other projects. They may have different custom fields and different workflows, for example. Because of this, it is harder to combine Team Based projects into Roadmaps to get an aggregated view.
Company Managed projects on the other hand can use shared configurations for things like fields, screens, issue types, and workflows. This allow you to create a shared and standardized work process across multiple projects. With a shared and standardized work process it is easier to aggregate the projects into an Advanced Roadmap.
There are also some architectural differences between the project types and how they track parent/child relationships between issues. That could also impact the functionality of an Advanced Roadmap that included a Team Managed project.
That is a very high level view of the differences.

If I recall well, Team managed project or kind of containers that do not intecract with others project so they can be administrated by the project admin without a jira admin with no risk for other projects of the instance.
Advanced roadmap is not supported yet and I think it's because the most common use case is to visualize roadmap across multiple project.
You can have more info about Team managed project below
There is consideration to allow it
