Tasks being created in two separate projects

Thiago Vasques November 18, 2021

Here we have two different projects, let's call them A and B, they don't have any connection to each other, but when we create a task in A's backlog, sometimes the same task is duplicated to B's backlog. If the task is deleted in B , is also deleted in A.

This shouldn't happen because the two projects don't have any links... we've already reviewed the settings but we didn't find any links between them

Hi @Thiago Vasques and welcome to the community!

First of all projects have a key which makes them unique. So if on project A you have a key of AAA, then any issue created on that container will have the AAA prefix. Project B might have a key of BBB and issues will have that prefix. With that said, it's impossible to create the same issue twice.

You have to check:

  • If the issue has the same key e.g. AAA-123
  • If the two boards (if you are watching the issues from the boards) have similar filters, or bring similar results
  • In case the issue has the same values, but different issue key, you have to check for automation either in Jira automation, or within the workflow
