Story or Task in the sprint?

Jirong Hu January 9, 2014

Since JIRA didn't implement a Epic - Story - Task hierarchy. Shall we put Story or Task in the sprint backlog? In other tools like RTC, you can add anything and they will be organized as a tree structure.

@Jirong, as @Timothymentions you have to use regular JIRA links in order to build the hierarchy under the Story.

There are 3rd party add-ons like the Links Hierarchy plugin which might help you a lot to plan and track such hierarchies from Agile.

An example showing how to relate all the issues in a hierachy of linked issues to a sprint by using the standard bulk tool:

Hope this helps.

Epic -> Story -> (Issue Type) using Issue Linking?

Jirong Hu January 9, 2014

This won't work. I moved stories into the sprint, but the tasks linked to the stories are still in the backlog.
