Need some help or suggestion to help sort our backlog.
We are using a couple of different methods to manage the flow of work:
We use a Kanban board for ongoing team work
We use the Kanban Backlog (where we have over 300 tickets) (using Rank to sort)
We also use Structure to break down smaller projects and set due dates and priorities.
We were using Priority and due dates to sort the Kanban board and backlog, but it wasnt working well with tickets where we had 10 or so with the same priority. So we have moved to Rank, but that requires 100% manual intervention.
Is there any way we can sort issues by Priority, then tweak by Rank, using Structure for example, and having that Rank flow through to the Backlog?
Could you modify you board's filter and update the ORDER BY clause as below?:
ORDER BY priority , Rank ASC
That would list the tickets in kanban board to be ordered by priority first and then with the 'RANK' value.
However, modifying the query as above will disable 'Ranking' in the board. You will not be able to arrange the rank inside the board by drag drop.
thank you for your response. It doesnt work for us - we need to be able to rank.
We use the Kanban boards for ongoing work for a team of 10, so there is constantly work created and in progress and being resolved. A revolving board.
We want to be able to go in and rank, ideally without newly created tickets ending at the bottom of a list of 300 in the backlog.
I understand that ranking doesn't work the way we need it to (be able to rank amongst a priority setting), but am hoping that someone has discovered a workaround!
