When working with the separate Kanban backlog, you see all subtasks with the status "BACKLOG" and can access them by klicking on the Issue-Link FOO-xxx.

These sub-tasks are shown below their parent (i. e. the corresponding story or task)

However, if the parent has a different status (as SELECT FOR DEVELOPMENT), the parent is shown als a gray bar only, without a link provided.

In order to review the parent, you have to click on the subtask to view it in the "Issue Detail View" panel which pops up to the right of the Staus Columns, then on click on the Issue-Link on top this Issue Detail View" and lastly click at the breadcrumb shown on top of the Issue windows which shows the parent link of the corresponding Story or Task.

Question: I would like to provide my users with a quick link to the parent task of a sub-task. Can this be configured to work?

This question might be a duplicate, but my limited search skill with google just found questions concerning showing sub-task in the backlog at all - which is not an issue with the Kanban-Boards. Thanks for any hint!

Hi @Lars E.

As far as I'm aware, this is unfortunately not possible.

As it's not possible to show sub-task's parent on the card view itself, the breadcrumb approach is the easiest method.

You might be able to create a custom field on the sub-task issue type screen that duplicates the parent story's key as a hyperlink - and then add that custom field to the card view - but it's not something I've tried and seems quite complex when there is already the breadcrumb method.
