Show epics from other projects within epic panel (Scrum board)

Christian June 18, 2015

Hey.

Situation:

  • Multiple projects (for dev teams) without the issue type “Epic”. Each with one or two Agile boards (mostly Scrum).
  • One project from PM which includes our Epics for all dev teams.

Questions:

  1. What is the default behavior of the epic panel? Show only the epics of the same project (using the board filter) or showing all epics from all projects?
  2. Is it necessary to add the issue type “Epic” into the “Issue Type Schemes” from the dev Teams?
  3. In the Agile boards from the dev teams we would like to see the Epics (only this type) from the PM project. Extending the board filter results in also showing all the other issue types from the PM board. How we could solve this?

Thanks & kind regards,

Christian

  1. Epics are not restricted to any project. You can assign similar issues/stories to an epic, these issues can be residing in different projects. Epics is just away of grouping similar user stories together.
  2. Yes, if your team is using agile boards then epics and stories mustbe made available to them, via issue typeschemes
  3. In the filter for dev board, you can specify NOT IN issuetypes (A,B,C)

    Hope this helps
