Reconnecting JIRA users to the Confluence site which has changed IP and DNS

Omar Helal October 5, 2017

I've recently moved our confluence server from one AWS region to another and thus changed the IP address, I have also created a new DNS for the server however I seem to have broken the connection between the user DB on JIRA and the Confluence site.

I have tried many things including:

  • Updating the application link within JIRA
  • Updating the User Server setting in JIRA by adding the new Confluence IP address
  • Restarting both servers
  • Removing the application link then re-adding
  • Looking all over the forums for similar issues

Your help would be much appreciated

It took a bit more digging but two things solved my problem:

Updating the Base URL from the DB (it was pointing to the old AWS one)

and

Restoring admin login rights so I can get in and update the settings properly:

JFYI, this user management is independent of application links.

Check if this IP is whitelisted in JIRA. If this does not help

Try re-creating the jira user server and configuring it in confluence. (I am assuming you have an internal admin user for Confluence)

Check the logs for jira and confluence.

Thanks for your help, I did also have the IP in the white list.
