Quick search on part of a ticket id?

Deleted user April 4, 2019

I am often using the Jira quick search (that thingy in the top right corner of every jira page) to search for an issue.

Since i am kind of lazy (it is a quick search after all) i tend to only enter the numerical part of the ticket id (e.g. 1234, NOT FOO-1234). This works if i am already in the context of the FOO project which mostly is not the case. The search result then tell me 'You can't view this issue' which means in fact 'The issue can not be found'.

Funnily this is not quite true because the when entering the number the correct ticket is showing in the search suggestions dropdown.

To cut a long question short: how to make jira include ticket 'FOO-1234' in the search results when only entering 1234? This is surely something every newby would require?
