Permissions

Rick Singh December 27, 2017

Wanted confirmation on how permissions are controlled in JIRA.   When permissioned to a Project, a user is allowed to view all tickets within that projects as well as all comments entered on tickets within that project?  Or does JIRA have the option to restrict tickets/comments only for that user within that project?

Just to add on to what @Alexey Matveev said, you can also restric t individual issues using issue security schemes. Check out https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiracloud/configuring-issue-level-security-776636711.html for more details.

By default, all issues and comments in the project are visible but you can restrict them if you want to.

If a user can view an issue then he can automatically view attachments and comments for the issue. But when a user creates a comment for an issue the user can restrict comment visibility to groups or roles. In this case a user will see a comment only if the user belongs to a group or to a role to which the comment is restricted.  So you can limit visibility for each comment when you create the comment or edit the comment.

Can we restrict the roles of a user from one of the project? We should add to only one project but we couldnt do that. We looked the project settings, people and permission settings but couldnt do the change. Could you please help about this topic? (But we do not want to do settings issue by issue, want to do this permission project to project)
