Moving to a new server.

Kelly Carter November 6, 2017

We need to update from 7.1 to 7.5 and would like to start with a clean database on a newer server. How do I make sure our licenses transfer to the new hardware? Ideally we would start with a clean database since most of the old one is irrelevant now.

You can just setup a new, clean instance. After that go to the license manager and connect your license key to your new instance ID.

Hello,
There are several ways to upgrade Jira by creating a clean database. You can find all information here

If you follow the guide your license will be fine.
In any way you will have either fill your clean database through Jira XML backup or through database backup. In any case your license is inside the backups.
