Mocking horizons using Sprints

Simon May 25, 2022

Hi, we run Kanban and have 5 projects as issue sources for an Advanced Roadmaps plan.

Although its hacking Roadmaps, I'm wondering whether its feasible to repurpose the Sprint field to represent 3-months quarters and assign a 'Quarter-sprint' to Initiatives not yet kicked off (no start & end dates), in order to visually loosely forward plan some of the projects we want to run.

Reading about how externals Sprints are handled in Roadmaps, I'm unclear whether I can create a shell project/Sprint board and link to my Cross-project roadmap such that I can select from the various Quarter-sprints for unscheduled Initiatives? We could then see at a high level which Initiatives are basically targeted when with quarter-level graularity

Or where else would I define Sprints that can populate My Plan?

I dont need the Sprint data to be stored in Jira issues.

Many thanks
