Migration to Jira Software Server 8.13.3 from 7.10.1 - missed Boards, Tests, Sprints

Alexander Lazarev January 27, 2021

After import of XML backup file from Jira Software Server 7.10.1 to newly installed Jira Software Server 8.13.3, the Boards, Tests and Sprints did not arrive into 8.13.3. Also, LexoRank reported issue with Field ID - this issue has been resolved with JSWSERVER-10975 in jira.atlassian.com.

There are 2 questions:

1. What is the correct migration to 8.13.3 from 7.10.1 - 7.10.1 -> 7.13 -> 8.13.3 or it is possible direct migration 7.10.1 -> 8.13.3?

2. What is the correct configuration Jira Software Server DB in PostgreSQL 9.6.20 - there are error messages on missed AO tables which are present in the DB?

Hello Alexander,

Thank you for reaching out.

As mentioned in this documentationupgrading from Jira 7.x to Jira 8.x Long Term Support release requires a comprehensive upgrade procedure, as the upgrade implements several platform changes.

That being said, we strongly recommend you to first migrate to Jira 7.13 before moving to 8.13 and follow the steps of the documentation below, checking each of the steps to avoid errors during the upgrade process:

Preparing for the upgrade

About the database upgrade to PostgreSQL, Jira is tested and bundled with the 42.2.6 JDBC driver. You can also use the latest JDBC driver for your PostgreSQL version, though we can't guarantee it will work with your version of Jira. To use a different JDBC driver:

  1. Stop your Jira instance.
  2. Remove the bundled driver from <JIRA_INST>/lib/.
  3. Download the new driver and place it in <JIRA_INST>/lib/.
  4. Restart your Jira instance.

Let us know if this information helps.
