Managing issue grouping above Epic

Dear JIRA Community,

I am looking for a plug-in or a tool that would allow me to create groupings above Epic.  I would like to create another level of Stories above Epic that would allow me to group different Epics akin to how Epics combine different Stories. 

I tried Portfolio with its Initiatives and liked that part of the functionality.  Unfortunately, my company did not stay with the JIRA Portfolio due to high prices and limited features.  

Can someone recommend a JIRA plugin that would allow me to manage Story levels/groupings above Epic?

What functionality specifically are you hoping to recreate? Some things can be done with creative JQL, others do need apps.
