Hello !
I have a question regarding JIRA Software.
We are on a free version for now to do tests and we are trying to create a stable project.
The problem is on "Security settings", we want to manage those things :
- Creation of certain issue types cannot be done by a user group.
- Edition of certain fields from an issue cannot be filled by a user group.
- Block transitions for certain user group.
- Manage CRUD (Create, Read, Update and Delete) rights. For example, user can read certain issue type but they cannot update or create it.
Can we do those actions with the free Jira version ? Else, can we do it with the pay version without adding new app ?
Julien.
Hi @Julien BOIREAU ,
issue permissions is actually a feature for Standard and Enterprise plans, it won't be available for Free plans as you can see in the documentation : https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/explore-jira-cloud-plans/
However, you can change your subscription from Free to Standard for a trial (I think it's a couple weeks or months) and continue testing. You won't require addons to do this, you can use Jira workflow parameters (conditions, validators, etc) : https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/configure-advanced-issue-workflows/
Let me know if this helps,

Welcome to the community
- Creation of certain issue types cannot be done by a user group.
Not possible out of the box you will need an addon or create your own plugin
- Edition of certain fields from an issue cannot be filled by a user group
Not possible out of the box, you will need an addon like Scriptrunner.
- Block transitions for certain user group.
Possible with jira workflow properties.

- Manage CRUD (Create, Read, Update and Delete) rights. For example, user can read certain issue type but they cannot update or create it.
You can't really achieve that. Permission works at the project level, so if you give the create permission to a user he will be able to create all type of issue, it's the same for edit permission and all other permission. Here again you will need addon to achieve want you want.
Hope this helps
