Lock the order of issues in the Planning Board

Nathan Taylor September 26, 2011

In my workplace we commonly use the Planning Board view of Greenhopper in JIRA to prioritize tasks we are working on in. While this works well, we find that users will inadvertantly reogranize our tasks with accidental clicks while viewing the page. A simple, but very helpful feature would be the ability to have a lock on the order of tasks in the planning board which can be quickly toggled by clicking some kind of icon on the page. Having a lock action would help to prevent problems resulting from accidental clicks without creating too much additional complexity.

This can be achieved by using a filter and sorting, one way would be to have the Pr# field as the sort and then fill in the priority for each issue, leave say 10 between each priority to ease slipping and sliding later. This effectively locks the issue order as long as that filter is behind the project context. Same thing for the filter behind a rapidboard.
