Location of server backup when migrating

We run server instances of Jira and Confluence, and use an external partner for the hosting service. Once we get our partner to export to a backup, how do we specify an external location for the Cloud import step? Or does the backup need to be on locally accessible storage? Could we use AWS S3?

You will need to get the export from the server instances on to the machine that you are using to commission the Cloud site to.  The Cloud system expects the file to be uploaded from your browser!
