Label has been deleted from issues by mistake; is it possible to see a log of changes?

Gonzalo Benitez de lugo December 10, 2020

We had a bunch of issues with a label.

By mistake, using the bulk editing the label has been deleted from around 60 issues and we want to add it again / check which issues had that label.

  • Is it possible to access a log of changes in Jira Cloud?
  • Is it possible to identify those issues through any other way?

Many thanks

Hi @Gonzalo Benitez de lugo,

Unfortunately, the labels field does not support history search. If you know when the accidental update occurred, you can narrow down through a search on updated issues in that time frame:

updated >= date1 and updated <= date 2 and labels is empty

On the history tab of each issue you will be able to retrieve the update. Locate this at the bottom of your issue screen under Activity > History. An updated label will show somewhat like this:

The better you have an idea of when the bulk update was initiated and what the initial filter was that triggered it, the easier it will be to find the impacted issues.

@Walter Buggenhout good ideas. I'll try them. Thank you!
