If I have to guess starting from the few information provided...

- jira is not properly installed or

- wrong url (try http://localhost ...)

Installation was live and underuse till Friday, it just stopped working.

Looks like it has stopped for some reason.

You'll need to check with your admins if they stopped it, and read the logs to find out why it stopped running if it was not shut down deliberately.
