Jira: Single View of Stories and their Sub-Tasks?

Ross Ryan August 27, 2014

Hello,

We are evaluating Jira as an overall agile tool (not just a defect tracker) and are currently using Rally.

In Rally, it's possible to see all an iteration's user stories with their tasks in a single view (a hierarchical list). Is this possible in Jira? I can view the stories on the Agile Board Plan Mode but not their sub-tasks. I can only view sub-tasks if I click into the story.

Thanks,

Ross.

Hey there,

you can see the sub-tasks for each task in the work board.
The sub-tasks are the lowest level in Agile - the level of actually doing something.
This isn't important in the plan board if your stories are well descriped.
Example:

Epic - "Destroy the one ring"
1 Story - "Collect the fellowship"
1 Sub-Task of this story could be - "Find Aragorn"
Another "Find xy"
- Do you really need to see this in the planing?

So it's not thought to see this in plan board because its "just" the doing behind the to-do.

Hope this could help.

Simon :)
