Jira Automation with Slack

Johannes Nyberg May 24, 2023

Hi!

I´m setting up a Jira Automation based on the following instructions. Everything goes well.

https://confluence.atlassian.com/automation070/how-to-use-slack-messages-with-automation-for-jira-1014664546.html

However, when setting it up Slack is recommending something else

Please note, this is a legacy custom integration - an outdated way for teams to integrate with Slack. These integrations lack newer features and they will be deprecated and possibly removed in the future. We do not recommend their use. Instead, we suggest that you check out their replacement: Slack apps.

But in Jira Automation, the only option I have to send Slack Messages is via the first option above.

Any advice on this matter?

Thank you,

Johannes

The way you do it is to create a Slack app that allows you to create webhooks that you can then use in your automation. Creating the Slack app is straight forward and requires not coding, just follow this example that Slack has documented.
