Grandhi Mounica May 19, 2021

Hi Team, Can you please provide the JIRA service desk API Documentation and please confirm us exact name for JIRA service desk. Actually we are facing little bit confusing names -> Jira Service Desk or Jira Service Management. Please confirm me which one is correct one.

Hi @Grandhi Mounica

You can find the Jira Service Management documentation via this link. This works in conjunction with Jira Software Rest API documentation, so this link may also be useful.

The Product is called Jira Service Management - it used to be called Jira Service Desk until a few months ago when it went through a re-brand. But these are the exact same product

Depends on what kind of instance you have, Datacenter or Cloud

Also for server you should look towards the latest version of the API

Hi Team,

Can you please confirm Jira service management have two types as "server" and "cloud"?

If yes, Can you please clarify why two types are there?

Thank you!

@Grandhi Mounica The two types are Cloud (hosted by Atlassian) and Data Centre (self-hosted). A third 'server' version will still exist for some users, but this is being discontinued and you can no longer buy licenses for the Server version.

Cloud is much quicker and easier to set up and is easily scaleable, because you don't need to worry about setting up servers, proxies etc. See more differences between the different hosting types here.

if you don't have any legacy system you need to start from I agree that Cloud is your best bet.

It does have some things that will need to evolve (it's a younger product than On Premise) and you'll also have to consider whether your company can go cloud.

But future-proof is going cloud :)
