Is there a way to see the time logged against a set of users for a week/Sprint?

Avinash M Jacob March 18, 2024

Im trying to find ways to display/highlight the time logged by my team.

I figured having a dashboard makes it easy.

Is there a way I can set this up?

Hi @Avinash M Jacob,

While Jira is very good at showing issue lists, it is not so strong when it comes to timesheets (out of the box).

With the core functionality being there (you can log work on issues), it is almost essential to add a marketplace app to do proper follow-up and reporting on time tracking. We usually work with Tempo Timesheets, as it has robust features in place for entering, approving and reporting (including everything you are looking for), but there are many timesheet apps in the Marketplace to choose from.

Hope this helps!

Hello @Avinash M Jacob,

I am Marlene, product manager of Quick Filters for Jira Dashboards.

Another option would be our Jira cloud app, with which you can sum up the time logged and any other Jira number field.

  • Add the Quick Issue Statistics gadget to your dashboard.
  • Select "Team" as field.
  • Select e.g. "Time Spent" as values shown.

Doing that you can see a statistic that sums up the "Time Spent" per team (the screenshot below shows the statistic per assignee, but we also support the team field).

You can check out our app without installation on our demo dashboards.

Hi @Avinash M Jacob

as Walter suggested, there are number of apps available in the Atlassian Marketplace that operate in this space and add extended time reporting capabilities to Jira.

If the Marketplace is an option for you, you may want to check out the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.

With these, you can build a view like e.g. this in just a couple of clicks:

sprint-assignee-report.gif

This is really just one of a virtually endless number of possible views and reports - you can also group by any other issue field(s), configure different sum-up styles, etc. etc.

You may already know that you can trial any app for free for 1 month, and depending on the size of your size, it may be free forever. So if an app is an option for your, perhaps try a few and see which works best for you.

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes

Hi @Avinash M Jacob

There are a lot of time tracking apps in the marketplace that can show time spent grouped by users. Our WorklogPRO app is one of them. It also has dashboard gadget as you have requested.

Hi @Avinash M Jacob

you might consider using time-tracking apps that in most cases have a customizable report of tracked time on issues.

I can recommend our Clockwork Automated Time Tracking & Timesheets Pro, or Free app which offers you the possibility to review timesheets and create reports that can be configured in various ways using break-down and filtering options.

Using timesheets, you can create a report and filter it based on several options including labels, or other fields. You can choose a range for a whole year and break down the data by chosen fields. This information can be also exported to Excel files.

We have recently also developed a Team feature that allows you to create Teams which can be used in timesheet filters and breakdowns. When a team is selected for a timesheet/report, all users in the team will be included in the report even if they do not have any worklogs for the selected timeframe.

Please find below the sample of how the timesheet looks like:

Hi @Avinash M Jacob

If you would be interested in a mktplace app to get this data, you can try the add-on we have developed. You can easily view time entries by multiple resources in a single view. And also add your Jira columns in the report with the ability to export to a CSV as well.

Worklogs Time Tracking & Timesheets

The app allows to filter/Categorize/Group By your worklogs data and a timesheet view too to track individual time spent.
