Is it possible to change the board to show Initials instead of full names?

We often have several names that show up on the board for a story, but only the first one appears in full and the rest are cut off.

Is there a way to change this so it doesn't show the full name but instead their initials? It would make it easier for us to see all the names.

What field are you using for the card? 

And regardless, Jira won't be able to sub out initials instead of the name since the initials are not stored but the name is. 

You could create a custom field and place the initials in that and display that field on the card.
