Importing Trello Boards with matching IDs

Roberto Vasquez-Angel December 20, 2020

We are trying to import trello boards into jira. So far it works but the Issue IDs don't match.

As we use the Issue IDs to references issues in git and in invoivces. Matching is mandatory. How can we achieve an import with matching ids?

Alternative: As second best solution, we could live with having the original Trello ID in a custom field or as prefix to the title.

An import via csv file would kill comments and attachments. This is not an option.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards

Roberto

Hello @Roberto Vasquez-Angel ,

Thanks for reaching out, unfortunately, the comments aren’t included in a CSV export on Trello, because there’s not a good way to represent that sort of many-to-one content in the current iteration. Currently, comments are only in the JSON, or straight from the API, but the Card ID will only show up in a JSON export.

The Comments and attachments will come across in the import tool, but there would not be a method to map the ID using the Trello importer.

I believe the only way to achieve what you are looking for would be to use the JSON export Trello then modify to customize is as covered in the following document to import that data in a JSON format into Jira, mapping the Trello card ID to a custom field on the Jira issue:

Earl
