How to setup database when migrating to new servers?

Hi,
We are moving our jira installation to new application server and new database server.

We are planning to upgrade jira to the latest version in this same process.

Our old datebase is SQL Server 2008 and we are upgrading to SQL Server 2012.

Our plan is to install jira 6.4 to new servers and restore the system from old system using xml backup.

My question is how to setup the new database? Do I use the settings like collation and etc from documention for jira version 7.4?
