This is Karla from Atlassian! Please note that an integration with Gitlab is not an out of the box feature. There's a guide published directly by Gitlab https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/user/project/integrations/jira.html so it would also be a good idea reaching them out directly if you have further clarification.
