How exactly does the Configuration Manager Plugin work?

I'm using Configuration Manager in Jira server 8.6.1, and upon creating a Snapshot I'm getting a lot of 'Warnings' for missing objects that I just can't find!? I realise that it could be private filters of old users, looking for removed statuses etc. but is there a definitive way of dealing with it?

Hi @Karl Samson

I would suggest using the Power Admin extension of Configuration Manager (you will find it in your left navigation). You can search for the missing objects and see if your configuration uses them.

Another way of dealing with warnings is the other built-in tool: Integrity Check. It will show you the warnings in more detail and offer solutions like Quick fixes or paths to the locations.

Configuration Manager will allow you to perform the operations in case the warnings are not causing additional errors.

Great thanks. I'll use it from now on.

Hi @Karl Samson Yes, as Teodora mentioned integrity checker is really good tool to identify the missing or deleted object references for Borads, Filters and Dashboards.

You can quickly fix some of them but not all and you can work on fixing the things to remove those warnings

Like one you mentioned personal filters , private boards, private dashboards can have deleted object references like deleted sprint id's , users, groups, projects in the filters need to be updated by adding your user to the edit/view permission.

We have deal with this issue by adding our jira-administrator group to the all affected filters and then updated those accordingly.

We have migrated whole internal jira to our public jira with more than 700+ projects and 800000+ issues using CMJ plugin.

Let me know if you face any issues or have any questions I will be happy to help.

Thanks! Some good ideas there to try in future.
