How do we reinstate Markup within Jira?

Trying again - since the new UI upgrade I've lost the ability to use mark up when creating issues in Jira.  The WYSIWYG editor is shown by default (plus a load of shortcuts I've never used before).

At the moment I am having to switch to old view every time I want to edit or create an issue.

The only documentation I can find for this relates to the old view.

Does anyone know how to reinstate Jira markup within the new view?

There isn’t a way to reinstate the old editor at this point. You might wish to click on the feedback link and provide feedback to Atlassian if you desire.

Thank you for taking the time to answer.  I've raised feedback but to be honest I'm going to spend my time looking for a replacement for Jira.  These constant changes are disruptive and we've reached the point where we feel we can't rely on it anymore.
