How do I change my SQL database password?

I recently changes the password on my PostgeSQL server for security reasons and now when Jira performs system checks I get an Authorization error password invalid.

How do I update Jira with the new passwoed?

You could use the tool or do the change the dbconfig.xml file manually in the jira application home directory.
