How do I add a quicksearch to search a custom field that contains the text typed in by the user?

I was able to create a custom search filter pretty easily since that doesn't require JQL but I would like to replicate it in QuickSearch so that this custom field can be searched while in the Backlog view, for example.

here are the capabilities for searching using the quick search - note that custom fields are not supported:

you could add a comment with the content you wish to search on and then find it via quick search
