How do I add Status to an Email notification title when the issue's status changes

Terri Cattell June 17, 2014

On the 'Old' Jira, the status of an issue was shown when an Email notification was sent.

- Example: JIRA- Ready For Analysis: (VTGWEB-126) holding pen - utc date vs. time stamp

The 'New' Jira doesn't write the status into the email title

- Example: JIRA- (DELTA-172) Milk Production ACCP & Production Release

As Agile team leaders, we like to keep a high level view over how issues are progressing through the storyboard - and having the status in the title means we can do this without having to open every email.

So - how do we add the status back into the Email Notification title?

Hi Terri,

If you want to be able to control your outgoing emails more you might consider any of these plugins as an alternative to alter the velocity templates.

Notification Assistant for JIRA (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.riadalabs.jira.plugins.notificationassistant)

This plugin makes it possible to send out notifications based on both events as well as scheduled JQL queries. You can customize the email as nyou like

Enterprise Mail Handler for JIRA (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.javahollic.jira.jemh-ui)

This is the ultimate mail handler for JIRA. It gives you total control of incoming and outgoing emails. If you are using JIRA mail handlers to create issues in JIRA you may want to take a look at this. It extends the built-in functionality a lot!

Both of these plugins lets you manage the format of the email but they also provide a lot of other great functionality. They are both paid plugins so if you are only interested in tweaking the format of the emails you should probably just update the velocity as suggested by Vijay!

Cheers,

// Svante
