Why do we use the term "Capacity" in Agile process?

It's the amount of things the team can achieve in a sprint.  Usually measured in story points, but could be hours or other numbers that measure how much they can do.

Thank you for the response,I'm new to agile process but I'm trying to understand ,however it would be glad if you can explain me with an example.

My team usually delivers 50 story points worth of work every two weeks (our sprints are two weeks).  So we say the team's "capacity" is 50 story points.
