Has anyone migrated their Jira Cloud data from one URL to another?

Steve Harman November 2, 2017

Hi,

Having spoken with Atlassian support it appears there's no easy way to move from: ourCurrentDomain.atlassian.net to ourNewDomain.atlassian.net.  The process involves exporting from our old account and into the new one.

Has anyone ever done this?  And if so:

  • Was it straightforward?
  • Do the JIra projects from the old domain need to exist in the new domain?
  • Do the users from the old domain need to exist in the new domain?
  • Will our users need to create new passwords to login to the new domain?
  • Can we migrate Jira Software, Confluence & Service Desk in one go?

Suggestions on some or all of the above would be most welcome.

Thanks,

Steve

I've done it a couple of times for clients.

1. Yes, follow the docs

2. No, it's a complete import

3. I did it with the old user system, where it was a good idea to have them there first.  I'm not sure with Atlassian accounts, but I would have them there if possible.

4. No

5. No.  Jira is one system (with Software and/or SD if you want), and Confluence a second one.
