Graphic relationship between initiatives to tasks for a display on a digital whiteboard

Robert Blackadder March 12, 2024

I am going to be doing a presentation to the Stakeholders next month and I want to be able display the Jira structure from Initiatives at the top and Epics and Features and finally Tasks.

Like a family Tree with the click of a button using all the internal links that have been made, up and down.

Does anything like this exist ?  Thanks..

Hi @Robert Blackadder,

Per my knowledge Jira does not provide such functionality.

But luckily there is a good solution for this. You can easily display this info in a Jira dashboard or in a Confluence page by using the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) gadget offered by our Great Gadgets plugin.

The gadget displays the issues from a filter/JQL in a tree structure in form of Initiatives > Epics > Tasks, Stories > Sub-tasks, exactly as you want.

Find more about this gadget and the many others offered by the same app in this article:

Hope this helps.

Hello @Danut M _StonikByte_

QQ: Interesting addon, does it use JIRA's "Issue type hierarchy" to show all levels of ticket relationships or just Epic down?

~Thanks, Jim

Hi @James Gould,

It uses Jira's issue hierarchy (Epics > Tasks, Stories > Sub-tasks). But if you also have the Atlassian's Advanced Roadmaps app installed in your Jira instance, it displays the extra levels (Initiatives) added with this app on top of the Epic level.

Sounds interesting! Looking forward to seeing the visual representation of the relationship between initiatives and tasks on the digital whiteboard.
