Our clients wants to see the status and due date of all the issues that have been created in Jira software. How can we achieve this?
Currently we have tried by revoking all the permissions for these 'restricted users' and just give them 'browse projects' access. Now client can view the dashboard; but the problem is he can also view all of the details on individual issues and the comments posted on it.
Is there anyway that we restrict such users to just the dashboard or give them access to just a single report; so that he can simply know the current status of tasks and when are they due?
You could export the dashboard to a PDF file and email that to your clients. That way you don't need to play with the JIRA permissions at all, and this is rather secure.
Even better, you could make it fully automatic with the PDF Automation add-on!
Either a user can see an issue or they can not.
If they can not see an issue, then they can not get any data on to a dashboard about it, it's not something they can see.
So, no, natively, JIRA won't let you leak information from issues people can't see.
You either need another tool that can check JIRA for the dashboard information, or implement something that blocks their access to the issues so they get an error and/or redirection to the dashboard if they try.
