Exporting/Importing Issues via csv - user names do not appear properly

Hi all,

So I am exporting and then importing some issues from a cloud site of Jira to a server site of Jira, all via csv.

The csv export is fine and so is the import, and the data appears fine .... with the exception of the comments. The comment body comes through, but the user name is a user ID, not a name. So there is no way of telling who made the comment.

When checking the csv I can see the user names have been exported as user ID's - and have found out this for data security reasons.

My question would be, does anyone know of a way to perform the csv export from cloud, while keeping the user names?

I am currently trying out the exporter app.

I have also tried the Jira For Cloud Excel app, with a view to converting to csv, but that will not work as the exported excel does not show user name/date.

Any advise, tips, tricks, etc would be appriciated.

Dear @Jason Rogers ,

you could export the users via the REST API and write them in your own CSV file. But you need some coding/scripting skills.

Then you could follow my article to import them to Jira Server.

Thanks Thomas, I will check this out.
