I am searching for a way to export the work log behind an epic from Jira to Excel.

Is it possible to export entries from the work log of an epic into Excel, that were created over a definded period of time? If yes, is there a way to do it without writing a script?

Best Regards

Mick

Hi @Mick Paulsen

Welcome to the community!

You might consider using time-tracking apps that in most cases have a customizable report of tracked time on issues, including the possibility to export the data to Excel.

I can recommend our Clockwork Automated Time Tracking & Timesheets Pro, or Free app which offers you the possibility to export the timesheet data.

 Please see the details below:

You would have each issue, user, and time spent in different columns. You can include more than this, and configure it as you prefer.

If you have any additional questions, you can contact us through our help center.

Cheers!

Hi @Mick Paulsen

Welcome to the community!

Using a plugin like ActivityTimeline can help automate the process. It makes it easier to log time, provide reports, and get insights into team performance quickly.

ActivityTimeline offers to report by diverse categories: project, epic, and custom fields, so you know where the time is getting spent. Sure, you can export it to Excel.

Hi @Mick Paulsen ,

You can look at our Excel Online Integration add-on. Once the add-on is installed, you can define a filter/search in Jira for the Epics you need and then press the Excel export button. On the next screen, you can select Worklogs under Additional Worksheets and then Export. There is no configuration needed to export to Excel Desktop. If you want it to go to Excel Cloud and do scheduled or real-time exports, a few simple configuration steps are required.

Hi @Mick Paulsen

Welcome to the community !!

If you would like to try out a mktplace app for your requirement, please take a look at an add-one have developed for the same use case.

Issue Hierarchy

The app easily allows to export the Epic and its child issues and the work logged and sum up at each level to a CSV file. Do try it out.

Better Excel Exporter can export any set of issues with the selected columns and the worklogs to Excel, no scripting required!

In this sample export, column A-G are user-selected issue fields, while column H-... are the worklog fields (who, when, hours, comment):

If you logged the work on the epic (which is an issue itself), then export only that single issue.

But, if you logged the work on the actual stories that are linked to the epic, then run this JQL in the Issue Navigator to find all stories in the epic:

"Epic Link" = "your epic name here"

...then export the resulted issues!

(Discl. it is a paid and supported app developed by our team. Free for 10 users!)
