My JIRA log has one line error:

We just created a flagging field, the functionality was never used. I created a Multi selection field. I configured one project to use the flagging field. In the task/planning board view, I click Gears dropdown and select Flag as Blocker. I get a popup with Error: Failed to flag the issue
However, if I edit the issue in JIRA screen and set the blocker field, I do get the Caution (yellow triangle) icon on my card in the Task/Planning board.
We are using JIRA 5.1.1 and GH 5.10.6.
