Epic with related issues from other projects/boards need to show in Advanced Road Map

Esmeralda DeArmas May 18, 2022

Hello,

We are have an Epic in one board/project that has stories spread out over different projects/boards and I know we can link the issues by related etc however when in Advanced road map it does not show any of those linked issues within the Epic. How can we get an Epic to show all issues including the linked issues ? especially since those linked issues are dependent on other project resources. Is there way to enable this or something that we can do?

Thank you so much,

Hi @Esmeralda DeArmas

It depends on what you mean by linked issues.  Are you using parent/child relationships which they should show if the hierarchy has been set properly.

Now if you are using linked issues with relationships you are out of luck. You will be better off with plugins such as structure, biggantt instead.

Hi Fabian - We actually found a way to have stories from different board all show up under one epic. In each story instead of linking a story to that epic in the right hand option fields under Epic link you simply add the Epic number and that's all. Now one epic can carry tickets from different boards. Not sure if it's a loop hole but it works and is great when you have a cross functional item and would like the advanced road map epic to show case all issues in an epic.

Yes, for epics and stories via epic links they will be displayed correctly. It's not a loophole, this is how is supposed to work.

Hi @Esmeralda DeArmas ,

If you are open to third party apps, Pivot Report that we develop may help you. It supports both Advanced Roadmaps and custom hierarchies defined by issue links (yes, at the same time). Here's a sample report:
