We will be migrating our Jira projects to a new server environment. Do the customized workflows that have been created for the projects get included in the backup and restore or do I need to export then import the each worklow manually on the target system?
Do Custom Fields get included in the backup and restore or do I need to manually re-create them on the target system? Is there any way to automate or export/import custom fields if they are not included in the backup/restore process?
Hi @kdickason - A complete export or DB export will include all the workflows and custom fields that exist in your instance. The XML backup includes all data in the database. However, it does not include your attachments directory, Jira application home directory, or Jira application installation directory, which are stored on the filesystem.

Our goal is to move all projects from one server to another. I am trying to gather the info on the best way to do this. Please bear with me: Is the XML backup you provided info on different than doing a "complete export" or "DB export" as you said in your first sentence? Or are these all the same thing? Are the workflows and custom fields included in one of the other directories you mentioned?

Hi @kdickason , check for Using Jira's XML backup utility in https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/backing-up-data-938847673.html . This is the xml export and includes all data in the database. It does not include attachments. DB export is different from xml export.
